"Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman! It's Superman, Man of Steel, Superman! Superman... rocketed to Earth as an infant when the distant planet Krypton exploded! And who, disgused as Clark Kent mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet, fights a never ending battle for truth, justice and freedom with super powers far beyond those of ordinary mortals! It's Superman, Super, Super, Superman!"

Filmation, later known for their releases such as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, aired The New Adventures of Superman on September 10, 1966. It was one of their first productions. Clayton 'Bud' Collyer, longtime voice for the radio Superman, returned to lend his talents to the lead role. Filmation changed the name of the show in the second season to The Superman - Aquaman Hour, and by the third season it became The Batman - Superman Hour.

VHS - If you're interested you can find some of these episodes on video under the Super Powers title (now mostly found in bargain bins.) Don't get confused! The box that it was distributed in shows an 80's promotional artwork of Superman that was used on various products of its time and looks nothing like the animation inside. Be warned, there h have been some other "releases" on VHS but they are bootleg copies.

LD - None.

DVD - Warner Bros. has released every episode of The New Adventures of Superman on DVD! You can find it for sale online or at various retailers.
